The brainchild of Cristina Gallegos and Jenisa Washington, and fueled by support and encouragement from the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt Transatlantic Core Group, RevolutionOf.Connections is a 3 years, multicultural, multifaceted experiential campaign designed to raise awareness around values Germans and Americans share, celebrating commonalities and exploring the Waldorf cultural relevance in the U.S. It is intended to build friendships across the Atlantic that will continue beyond the duration of the project, crowdsourcing solutions to social disconnect, environmental concerns & “Not knowing about The Other”.
The Campaign includes a includes a community festival, a 21 months Van tour of Waldorf schools throughout US (a unique, mobile, traveling capsule of themed dialogues plus a Virtual Reality Immersive experience), and the creation of a Virtual Village – including a digital Waldorf community through the use of an app and a website-based Video Vault of friendship messages.
Using the young German and American voices of Waldorf students to share video narratives with one another, learn about German culture, and enjoy the German essence of Waldorf education in a festival setting, we aim to create engaging, exciting and electric experiences for children from 4 to 18 years old and their families, creating mixed-media platform to establish authentic relationships between American students and their German counterparts.
Our goals?
- To connect every Waldorf student in the US with every Waldorf student in Germany, allowing the two countries to learn about one another at the level of the citizen, transcending political narratives, economic uncertainties, and authoritarian narratives.
- To build an enduring bridge of connections between our two nations, counteracting the volatility of the times, and creating real links between millions of young people on both sides of the Atlantic.
- To galvanize young voices and collective action to create real environmental change at scale.
- To make today’s Germany REAL for young people across U.S. we will build upon the existing network of Waldorf schools as a backbone. A Revolution of Connections shows how closely the two countries are linked by heritage, common values, and shared interests using a combination of face-to-face dialogues, Virtual Reality and an App-based online community. This is a meta-community across Waldorf campuses, reducing social disconnection and jointly tackle global environmental challenges.
Currently in the planning phase, the project is designed to kickoff in October 2018, coinciding with the German Year in the US, and continue in 2019 during the 100th Year Anniversary of Waldorf Education.
