Job Opening:  Outside Sales Account Manager

Organization:  Sky(lark) Strategies, Los Angeles – A social enterprise (www.skylarkstrategies.com)

Organizational Overview: Sky(lark) Strategies is a start-up philanthropy shop working to accelerate social change by providing tactical and strategic know-how to philanthropists, non-profits and social entrepreneurs. Using collective decades of experience in new ways, we design, implement and manage efforts with a local (California and Colorado) and international focus (Germany, Easter Europe and Malaysia). We are currently actively expanding our programming and are looking for 3 passionate Outside Sales Account Managers to join our Los Angeles team.

Position Description:

The Outside Sales Account Manager will focus on helping grow one of the main Sky(lark) programs: The GG Society Fellowship (www.ggsociety.net). The objective of the job is to conduct outreach in the nonprofit field and help build the GG Society Fellowship cohorts. We believe that even the strongest programs need boots on the ground; “if you build it they will come” is a myth. Join us; we are looking for emerging stars.

Requirements:

We are not only building a team; we are building A CULTURE that goes beyond how someone looks on paper.  We believe in diversity, in non-traditional candidates, and in opening a door to people who need a chance. So if you have never done this, but feel you would be good at it, or if you are switching fields, etc. that’s cool!

We don’t care about your resume or work experience. While we would be excited if you happen to have a degree in business, communications, marketing, media or psychology, what we REALLY care about is this:

  • That you are ambitious as hell and highly driven
  • That you are a person of character with a positive vibe
  • That you are a “people person” who can “read” a room and the energy of a conversation
  • That you are trainable and have a growth mindset, and can handle having a boss
  • That you are good on the phone and in person, and present yourself with class
  • That you write well and pay attention to details
  • That you are organized
  • That you are a self-directed person that takes instructions well, and works productively on his/her own
  • That you are able to compartmentalize your personal and professional life

For bonus points, tell us if you check the box on any of the following:

  • Experience as a sales professional
  • Proven ability to identify prospects and develop relationships with clients
  • Demonstrated success against sales objectives or quotas
  • Track record of successfully sourcing new prospects over the phone
  • Social media prowess
  • Experience in the social sector (non-profit work, fundraising, or experience with social entrepreneurships would be a plus).

Job Role and Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting applicants to build the GG Society Fellowship Cohorts in 2017 and beyond.
    • Eliciting strong applications with great potential for Fellowship conversions
    • Unpacking and explaining the program model and the benefits of the program to prospective Fellows

Compensation:

This is an independent contractor position.

Generous commission-based earnings (uncapped).

Team incentives available for meeting targets and for superb performance.

How to Apply:

Send a cover letter in the body of the email to hello@ggsociety.net.

Your cover letter is the part of your application that will get you an interview so give it some SERIOUS thought.  Content and form are equally important, so make it look right. And keep in mind that bad grammar and typos give us the hives.

Your cover letter is your opportunity to tell us 1) who you really are, 2) why do you want to work with us, 3) why might we want to work with you, and 4) what attracts you about being in sales. For extra credit, 5) tell us who’s your modern hero and why, 6) and give us an example that you can sell ice to polar bears.  Add anything that you feel might be relevant to the requirements of the job, although please, be mercifully brief.

Please don’t send us a copy & paste template that you used for countless other applications. Also, if you are not what we are looking for, respect your time and ours and don’t just apply for the sake of applying.

Resume optional (PDF please)
